The Student Life staff is here to help you with your questions and concerns about life on campus. The Student Life Office helps meet student needs including residence life and housing, health and safety, community involvement, and campus activities. They are closely involved with students and concerned with their well-being and safety.

Biography

Anita, a Danville native, joined the Student Life staff in 2001. She comes to Centre from a local manufacturing facility where she was a Human Resources Assistant for 16 years. One of her major responsibilities in the Student Life Office is the publication of the student handbook. She also publishes the yearly Centre College Directory.

Joao Monteiro

Biography

Joao is from Boston, MA, and a 2018 Centre College graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance and a minor in Mathematics. He joined the Student Life Office in July of 2018. He co-advises the Student Activates Council, manages Campus Activities programming, and assists with student conduct. While at Centre, Joao served as the event coordinator for Phi Kappa Tau, served as an executive member on Student Activities Council, and was a Student Government Association representative. He studied abroad in Ghana, where he served as a middle school teacher.

Jimmy Robinson

Biography

Jimmy is from Owingsville, Kentucky and graduated from Centre College in 2018 with a BA majoring in anthropology/sociology and minoring in environmental studies. He joined the Student Life Office as the Community Service Coordinator in July 2018. In this role, he helps manage the Bonner Scholars Program and assists in all community service engagement on campus. While at Centre, Jimmy was a Bonner Scholar and served as the Bonner Congress Representative, Summer Intern, Council Member, and Junior Intern. He was also an anthropology research assistant, elected into Phi Beta Kappa honor society, and studied abroad in Borneo.

Kendrick Durham

Biography

Kendrick joined the Student Life staff in August of 2011. He oversees the Student Activities Council, Student Government Association, and numerous registered student clubs and organizations. Kendrick also supervises the Campus Center student staff along with coordinating the Campus Center facility. Kendrick earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications from Bellarmine University in Louisville and his master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina. Kendrick is originally from Liberty, Ky.

Randy Hays

Biography

Randy was promoted to the position of Vice President and Dean of Student Life in 2000 after serving since 1993 as Director of Residence Life and Counseling and Associate Dean of Student Life. As Vice President and Dean of Student Life, Randy continues to have an “open door” policy, which invites all students to call upon him for advice or direction here at Centre College. His philosophy for the Student Life Office is that each student deserves to have the best “outside the classroom” experience along with the best education while at Centre College. Randy earned a bachelor’s degree from Berea College and a master’s in Higher Education Administration from the University of Kentucky.

 

Vice President and Dean of Student Life Randy Hays receives “Dr. Fred Rhodes Outstanding Service” award at CPAK Conference

Vice President and Dean of Student Life Randy Hays was recognized with the “Dr. Fred Rhodes Outstanding Service” award at the 2016 College Personnel Association of Kentucky (CPAK) Conference held on Centre College’s campus on Jan. 29.

The award commends outstanding professionals who have made significant professional contributions or achievements on a campus, or at the state or regional level. Nominees also demonstrate professional ethics, dedication and commitment to the principles of the college personnel profession. More….

Emma King

Biography

Emma is a 2018 Centre graduate of from Lexington with a bachelor’s degree in Music and International Studies. She co-advises the executive boards of the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Order of Omega, and Gamma Sigma Alpha, works with the Rho Gamma team for sorority recruitment, oversees the Greek house managers, assists in coordinating educational programming for the Greek community, works closely with the Director of Greek life, and manages the shuttle service. As a student at Centre, Emma was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, served as a Rho Gamma, and served as the Vice President of Recruitment on the Panhellenic Council.  She was also a Centre Ambassador and was involved in Centre Singers.

Gracie Nilsson

Biography

Gracie is a 2017 Centre graduate from Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in English. As a student life coordinator, Gracie co-advises the Student Government Association, manages the Campus Center reservation system, assists in campus activities programming, and supervises the Campus Center student staff. While a student Centre, Gracie served as the Panhellenic Council President, was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and studied abroad in Strasbourg, France.

Scotty Rainwater

Biography

Scotty joined the Student Life staff in June 2017. Scotty oversees the administrative aspects of fraternity and sorority life on campus as well as advises the Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils. In addition to Greek Life, he coordinates the new student orientation and supervises the orientation leaders. Scotty earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Communication from the University of North Alabama and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern University. Scotty is a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity and originally from Guntersville, Ala.

Jessie Weasner

Biography

Jessie joined the student life staff in October of 2018.  She oversees community service programming and the Bonner Scholar and Leader programs.  Jessie earned her undergraduate degrees in religious studies and sociology from Bowling Green State University and her master of theological studies from Vanderbilt Divinity School.  She is currently a doctoral candidate in Miami University’s Student Affairs in Higher Education program.  Her dissertation focuses on civic education and explores how colleges and universities prepare students to be active and informed citizens in our democracy.

Jessie is an AmeriCorps VISTA alum and is originally from Bloomville, Ohio.
