Centre College fully respects your right to privacy and actively seeks to preserve the privacy rights of those who share personal information with the College. 

Collection and use of personal information

The College does not collect any personal information about you on the public pages of the CentreNet Portal apart from information which you volunteer (for example by using our link to our Help Desk).  The public pages do use a limited amount of cookies to understand broad trends and optimize public access (please see the CentreNet Cookie Policy for details).  Any personal information which you volunteer to the College in connection with this portal will be treated in accordance with the laws and regulations in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Privacy Act of 1974. Accordingly, the College shall only process such information in line with the purpose for which you provided it to the extent necessary to provide you with the information or service you require.  The College shall not disclose your information to third parties unless you are specifically informed otherwise or we require a third party to process the information on our behalf (in which case the College requires these third parties to comply with its instructions and we require that they do not use your personal information for their own business purposes, unless you have explicitly consented to the use of your personal information in this way).

Directory Information 

This is information designated by Centre College as directory information may be disclosed without consent and used without restriction in conformity with the policy, unless the parent/guardian or eligible student opts out.

Centre College Directory Information is:

Faculty/Staff:  Full name, nickname (if provided), work address, work telephone number, Centre.edu email address. 

Students:  As above along with class year, major/minor declaration, sports participation, and honors or awards received.

Centre College is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other public websites which we link to but are not operated by or on behalf of the College.  The privacy practices on these websites may differ from that on the College’s websites and portals, and we advise that you review the other websites’ policies before providing personal information.

Within the Centre domain (.centre.edu) you may find websites over which the College has no editorial responsibility such as websites of student organizations, individuals or class projects.  While Centre College expects compliance with this privacy statement at such sites, please contact the Chief Information Officer or the ITS Department (helpdesk@centre.edu) if you encounter sites that are not compliant with this privacy statement.
