Study In Spain

Centre’s Spanish immersion program in Alicante is run by the Kentucky Institute for international Studies. In this immersion program, students will have an opportunity to study Spanish language, culture, and history in a modern welcoming city surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. The city's rich history and lovely monuments make Alicante a top destination in Spain.

Students wishing to participate in the Alicante semester program must have some hours of college-level Spanish or the equivalent at time of departure. Alicante courses are taught in Spanish and in English and students are expected to speak Spanish as much as possible.

Cost

The cost to study abroad on this semester program is the same as studying in Danville, plus a non-refundable deposit of $400 due to the Deputy Bursar on March 8th, 2024.

Students are responsible for the cost of flights to and from the study abroad site. Additional spending money for food or activities outside of those organized by the study abroad program is the responsibility of the student.

Housing

Courses

Courses taken in Alicante include Intensive Spanish course, along with a combination of up to 4 Spanish courses OR Spanish+English courses in major/minor disciplines (Humanities, Business, STEM). Courses are scheduled in monthly blocks. Spain Semester Program includes several local (day trip) excursions and one weekend excursion to either Madrid or Granada.

• Application window for the 2024-2025 academic year opens on November 16th, 2023 at 11:59pm and closes on February 2nd, 2024 at 11:59pm.

• Non-refundable deposit of $400 for semester programs is due to the Deputy Bursar on March 8th, 2024.

Students selected by Centre will complete an online KIIS application following their Centre acceptance notifications. Once accepted by KIIS, students will receive a program handbook and other information. Participants will also attend the KIIS pre-departure sessions.
