The same as studying in Danville, plus a $375 deposit (surcharge/emergency fund/carbon offset) and a $25 travel medicine due 29 March 2023. Flights to the abroad site are also the responsibility of the student. All pre-departure meetings, including the travel medicine meeting held each semester, are mandatory. If you have significant financial need, you may also qualify for additional funding from the Center for Global Citizenship.

Students take classes in the heart of Alicante and learn firsthand about daily life in Spain while living in a dorm or with a homestay family. If students are in a Homestay, they are provided 3 meals a day. If students, choose to live in dorms they will be given a stipend for their food. 

Courses taken in Alicante include Intensive Spanish course, along with a combination of up to 4 Spanish courses OR Spanish+English courses in major/minor disciplines (Humanities, Business, STEM). Courses are scheduled in monthly blocks. Spain Semester Program includes several local (day trip) excursions and one weekend excursion to either Madrid or Granada.

• Students wishing to participate in the Alicante semester program must have some hours of college-level Spanish or the equivalent at time of departure. Alicante courses are taught in Spanish and in English and students are expected to speak Spanish as much as possible.
• The application process will be discussed during the two campus-wide informational meetings. Application Deadline September for KIIS.  Please refer to the KIIS website for more information.
• Apply online using Centre Online Forms for a 2023-2024 abroad semester program.
• Students who are selected must pay the non-refundable $375 deposit/surcharge and the $25 Travel Medicine consult fee for a total of $400 to the Cashier’s Office in Horky House by March 29, 2023 to hold their spot in the program.

Students selected by Centre will complete an online KIIS application following their Centre acceptance notifications. Once accepted by KIIS, students will receive a program handbook and other information. Participants will also attend the pre-departure sessions run by KIIS.
